Marine Diesel Engineer / Caterpillar

As ptw Shipyard is working on luxury superyachts, suitable applicants for this position will have experience working on Caterpillar engines jobs.

Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering & Mechanics.

We are currently searching for fellow skilled, dedicated and like-minded individuals to join our Engineering & Mechanics Department, to perform installation, tests, repairs, overhauls and preventive maintenance works on the Caterpillar engines.


The selected person must have at least 2 years of proven experience performing works on Caterpillar marine engines.


  • Knowledge of the marine sector, preferably in the superyacht arena.
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar Marine diesel engines.
  • Performs major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on Caterpillar marine engines, outboard motors, and related vessel equipment and systems using schematic charts and technical manuals.
  • Tests marine engines and equipment to determine need for repairs or adjustments.
  • Repairs and maintains hydraulic equipment and valves.
  • Operates hand and power tools associated with vessel engine and equipment repair.
  • Works closely with superiors to understand required service details
  • Installation new equipment when required.
  • Tests repaired equipment and machinery when required.
  • Reports equipment and machinery defects which were not been identified as part of the job card.
  • Knowledge of Cummins, Volvo Penta, or Yanmar diesel engines will be a plus.
  • Mechanical experience is also required as will require you to work along with the mechanical maintenance team on various activities
  • Fulfill with the project schedule. Be inured to work under pressure conditions with work deadlines and excellence in the result.
  • Follow the safety rules, regulations and procedures described by the company, in marinas and on-board vessels.
  • Keep a clean work area that ensures safe work practices and supports a professional work environment with high quality standards.
  • Report to the department head the status of work and timely recommendations to improve the quality and efficiency of the department.
  • Performing other duties as directed by the department head.
  • Willingness to travel on a timely basis.

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Quick learning and easy transition from one project to the next.
  • Ability to follow up and report on an activity.

  • Training and constant learning is required to support the business.

Spanish. English is a plus but not essential.


Vocational training in Mechanics.


Tarragona - Spain.


Permanent contract.

Full time.
