It’s fair to say that the recent world pandemic has had a profound effect on boat shows and exhibitions around the world. The good news is that we appear to have rounded the mark on restrictions and late 2021 to early 2022 will see many of our favorite superyacht shows and exhibitions put back on the event calendar. Here are 9 of ptw Shipyard’s favourite boats shows and events to attend in the coming months:
Cannes Yachting Festival, September 7th to 12th, 2021.
Each year the Cannes Yachting Festival features an eclectic selection of boats and this year promises to be even more exciting than ever before with almost 600 boats, 430 exhibitors and 140 previews. From motor boats, monohulls and multihulls to hard and semi-rigid hulls, Cannes is the place to meet the very best in boating manufacturing and view their latest innovations.
The festival spans the entire French Riviera port with Vieux Port, the oldest harbour on the famous subtropical coastline, hosting 450 prestigious new motor boats ranging from 3 to 45 meters and featuring a wide range of new products from the world’s leading shipyard. Also at this port, there will be an area reserved for 100% electric and hybrid boats located at Pantiero including displays from many well known shipyards such as Boote Marian, Sarvo Marine, Say, Tita Yachts, Xshore and Pinball boats. In a dedicated area, on the other side of the Jetée, fast and direct access will be available to the open sea for sea trials, while Quai Max Laubeuf promises an impressive array of outboard and inboard engines on land, and in-water, 15 motorised multihulls from 11 to 29 meters.
In addition to this incredible motor boat display Vieux Port will have an exclusive luxury living area. The Luxury Gallery will host high-end and famous brands such as Missoni Home, Gioielleria Vintage, FRED Paris as well as other well known luxury brands in household linen, decoration, furniture, art, jewellery, fashion and accessories, high-tech products and services. The venue will offer discerning visitors to the yachting festival a unique experience and an opportunity to indulge in some high-end retail shopping.
Port Canto, situated on the other side of Croisette will be the setting for 108 new 10 to 35 meter in-water sailing boats. Featuring both monohull and multihull, with 20 global launches, the port will be a dedicated sailing area with shipyards, equipment manufacturers and service companies stands located alongside. The brokerage area, located close by, will exhibit around 50 second-hand sail boats, all over 22 meters in length, and nautical toys will be on display on the opposite quay.
This year the festival will introduce a number of new exhibition areas including The Innovation Space located at Port Canto’s Sailing area. This showcase, sponsored by Mer Angels and BNP Paribas Banque Privée will feature intelligent start-ups and breakthrough technologies that are creating a more powerful, responsible and environmentally friendly future for the nautical industry.
On Saturday September 11th, a parade of vintage and modern cabinless day motor boats of less than 12 meters will compete in the popular Concours d´Elégance. The event can be viewed from the festival beach from 4pm, and the winner decided by a jury of industry experts. All entry to the 2021 Cannes Yachting Festival is by digital registration or by the purchase of tickets online.
Monaco Yacht Show, September 22nd to 25th, 2021.
On September 22nd, 2021 the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) will return to the quays of Port Hercule and is promising to unveil another memorable fleet of superyachts for purchase or charter from the top names in the world yachting industry. The impressive fleet will consist of superyachts and megayachts ranging from 22 to 95 meters in length and includes 37 new world debut deliveries. While the list of participants is still being finalized, among the approximately 60 super yachts published, 37 are 2021 new deliveries unveiled by Monaco builders and 4 models are more than 70 meters in length.
The organisers are keen to provide a more bespoke experience to superyacht clientele and will introduce a new clearer visitor profile for all attendees. This system will see visitors divided into 3 categories, each with its own badge. The Discover badge will be provided to yacht clients, while an Advise badge will be worn by their advisors and consultants. Meanwhile, trade visitors will be identified by Connect badges. This new system will enhance the flow of visitors and will make it easier for private visitors to board superyachts and luxury tenders.
A brand new exhibition to be launched at MYS 2021 is the Yacht Design and Innovation Hub. This new area will be dedicated to designers and yacht builders who offer innovative solutions in yachting and will offer an enhanced visit experience to the new generation of superyacht customers. The exhibition will be included at the Historical Designer Gallery on Quai des Etats-Unis, which is located on Virage Louis Chiron in the new Dockside area, the site of the superyacht and tender exhibition. This new exhibition will allow visitors to meet in person with top-notch yacht designers and discuss new projects while discovering more about current and future trends in superyachting through live talks from design experts.
With over 580 exhibiting companies and partners participating at the show, among them the world´s most luxurious and trendy yacht designers, builders, manufacturers and brokerage houses, MYS is one of the most important shows in the yachting calendar and the only way to experience all the greatest in superyachting with the glamorous Monaco as a backdrop.
Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, October 27th to 31st , 2021.
The first of the winter superyacht shows, Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) kickstarts the annual Caribbean cruising season. Prized as the worlds largest in-water show the event boasts around 1,500 yachts afloat across 7 different locations spanning 278,000 square meters, and a combined boat and kit value of $4 billion dollars.
2021 will see the 62nd FLIBS exhibit an array of the industry’s latest boats and yachts, world debuts as well as a host of marine goods and accessories. From yacht designers and builders to brokerage and products, you will find everything needed to enhance a nautical lifestyle.
Superyacht village is located at Pier Sixty-Six Marina and is an enclave for the superyacht enthusiast. This exclusive marina features some of the most spectacular yachts in the show with some vessels reaching over 90 meters in length. The dedicated marina and exhibition space covers more than 141,000 square meters, is open to all, and is directly accessible by water tender or shuttle bus from the show´s other 6 locations.
METSTRADE, November 16th to 18th, 2021.
The METSTRADE show is the world´s largest trade exhibition of marine equipment, materials and systems and has served as a solid platform for innovation, industry networking and market developments since its launch back in 1988. In addition to the overall marine leisure industry, METSTRADE specialises in 3 distinct sectors, namely Superyachts, Construction Materials and Marina and Yards. This year’s event will take place in the Europa Complex hall 1-7, Europa Foyer and Elicium at the RAI Amsterdam. The smart floor layout ensures an easy-to-navigate first-class trade show. In addition to the live exhibition, the event can be viewed live via METSTRADE TV which offers the opportunity to enjoy the exhibition from home or office through live broadcasts on the internet from a special studio in Hall 6. A wealth of content will be broadcast throughout the event including the 30th DAME Awards Competition, a series of TechTalks, sustainability sessions and a retrospective of the Boat Builders Awards Ceremony.
Antigua Charter Yacht Show, December 4th to 9th, 2021.
2021 sees the Antigua Charter Yacht Show (ACYM) celebrate its Diamond Jubilee. For 60 years this exhibition has showcased the very best of what’s on offer in luxury yacht charter to the global yachting elite. The 6 day event takes place at the Nelson Dockyard which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Yacht lovers, owners and charterers all come together at the picturesque Falmouth Harbour and Antigua Yacht Marina, both located in Nelson’s Dockyard for what is considered to be the true highlight of the yachting show season. Brokers and clients are invited to cruise Antigua´s crystal clear coastal waters and stunning islands aboard a selection of gold standard yachts, the very finest of what’s on offer in world yacht chartering. Antigua Charter Yacht Show introduces the yacht chartering aristocracy to some of the largest charter yachts on the market, and exclusive events all amid a delightful island atmosphere.
MYBA Charter Show, March 18th to 22nd, 2022.
The MYBA Charter Show in Port Vell, Barcelona has a long history of bringing the world’s leading luxury charter professionals together. This is another important fixture on the yachting calendar with a proven track record of excellence and sophistication, which has been cultivated over its 32 year history. As a professional trade show it offers the world’s yacht chartering business elite the opportunity to review and appraise some of the finest charter yachts available , meet with captains and client representatives while surveying an array of top ancillary services.
This show is hosted in OneOcean Port Vell which is located in the heart of the Barcelona city coastline. This site has recently been transformed to a 148 berth luxury facility that can accommodate yachts up to 190 meters in length, making it an ideal location for a superyacht charter show.
Palma SuperYacht Show, 2022 dates to be confirmed.
Although the dates have not yet been confirmed, the Palma Superyacht Show is a must for the yachting elites 2022 event calendar. Whether you’re a seasoned owner who likes to keep up-to-date with the exciting additions to the market or new to the esteemed world of superyacht charter Marina Moll Vell in Mallorca is the place to be. The show features some of the finest superyachts available for sale and charter showcased alongside an extensive display of shore-side exhibitors. Everything from triple-decked motor yachts and sleek performance cruisers to cutting-edge marine electronics and the very latest advancements in sail design can be found at this annual gathering of the superyachts industries major players.
Final details are still pending on many of these events, in fact, catalogues and itineraries are still being finalised for many on this list.
